Appetizer Party: A Christmas Tradition

Guys, it's Christmas Time in the City. By the city, I totally just mean my head and the department stores. I broke out my Christmas decorations before traveling for Thanksgiving. That is EARLY for me. I am a firm believer in letting each holiday have their time in the spot light. However this year, I couldn't wait a second longer for December. December means MY HUSBAND COMES HOME (he's been gone for a while for those of you who are new followers). It also means our wedding anniversary and our daughter's first Christmas. What a magical season! We have plenty of time to create our own traditions, but the Dales in me has some I am never giving up. One of those is that every Christmas Eve we get together with my mom's family and eat lots of different appetizers then exchange gifts at the end of the night. This has always been so fun to me, I love that it is different than everyone else in the world and so so yummy. My mom makes thing on Christmas Eve we never had any other time growing up. These things include: meatballs, sausage balls, veggie pizza, pasta salad, pigs in a blanket, bacon wrapped mini-wieners, stuffed mushrooms, and more. My favorite is the sausage balls, they are worth every second of a 8+ hour trip with an infant! I kid you not. Now, before we get started I want you to know, I have never in my life actually seen my mother measure any of these things, she says, "until it looks right," is her go to response.

Ingredients

  • 1 roll Jimmy Deal Mild Sausage

  • 2 cups Bisquick, aprox.

  • 1 lb shredded, Sharp Cheddar

  • 2 tbsp of Hot Sauce, or more if you like them spicier

Instructions

  2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well

  3. Roll out into golf ball sized balls and place on pan

  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the sausage is done
