This is my little sister. What more can I say? She made the most beautiful momma-to-be. Now that little Emmy is here, we've decided to share her maternity session on the JPF Blog. I'll let her tell the rest of the story of her time during pregnancy and all that it entailed.
We've postponed our trip to meet our little niece til all the ruckus dies down, and we can have her all to ourselves... so stay tuned when I post our family trip next month with tons of Emmy and more.
How did you find out you were pregnant?
As soon as we got on land (from a 7 day cruise) I took a pregnancy test and it was positive!
How did you tell your husband?
I had the cutest plan to keep it a secret and do a big reveal, but when the time came I was way too excited and told him right away by showing him the test. He cried. It was the sweetest!
How soon did you tell your family?
We told our family and closest friends when we were about 8 weeks. We announced publicly closer to 12 weeks!
Are you having a girl or a boy? How did you find out?
GIRL! I knew it was a girl all along. I just had a feeling. My husband, mom, and best friend all went with me to the gender reveal ultrasound around 12 weeks. The technician wrote down what it was and gave it to my best friend. My best friend and mom threw the biggest gender reveal and we found out around 14 weeks with the rest of our friends and family!
How has your pregnancy been?
I was nauseous and sick until about week 12. Then it was smooth sailing! I stayed in the gym and had tons of energy my second trimester! The third trimester most certainly slowed me back down!
Baby name? How did you come up with it?
Emelia Adair Nabors
This took a TON of effort, but my husband and I were stuck between “Emmy” and Aria. Aria was becoming very popular so we went with Emmy, but tried to come up with a longer unique name to go with it and Emelia just stuck. (Also, Emilia Clark from Game of thrones, mother of dragons, might have come into play). Adair is my husband’s middle name and I’ve always wanted to reuse it, so that was a given!
Cravings, diet?
I may have stayed in the gym, but dieting is a whole different topic. I could barely eat anything at all my first trimester, much less healthy foods like salads or eggs or yogurt. My diet consisted of cook out milkshakes and corn dogs. My second trimester was a little bit healthier with yogurt parfaits for breakfast, but still couldn’t eat much meat, so the hubs and I stuck to the real healthy stuff like pizza and Mexican! I have had ice cream every night of my pregnancy. Emmy likes all things sweet. Her favorite is vanilla ice cream with butterfinger!
When is your due date?
September 6th, but we are thinking Emelia is going to make an early arrival. I went into preterm labor at 35 weeks and have been blessed to make it to 38 weeks so far. She should be here any day!
Worst pregnancy symptom?
Either nausea or heartburn
Do you plan to breast feed or formula feed?
I’m going to give breast feeding my best shot! I know it takes a lot of dedication, so I’m prepared, but I’m also prepared to formula feed if breast feeding doesn’t work out!
What are you most excited about?
I can’t wait to snuggle my baby girl and to see her with her daddy!
Happy Mommin',
Lauren Jackson
