Irma, Cosy Farms, and Our 4th Anniversary

Well, well. It's been an unexpected month to say the least. Last month at this time we were throwing our first wedding at the farm and by the following weekend our entire yard was an utter mess. Our home survived the wrath of Irma, only by the the grace of God- neighbors say it actually looked as if it had a bubble around it as the trees came within inches of hitting our home and cottage. We were so much more fortunate than some and my heart breaks for all of those who lost so much.

Some of our largest and oldest trees came crashing down. We lost 2 ducks in a week and a half. There was a ton of mess to clean up. And where there's a need, God always answers somehow. A group of people from Savannah, Georgia responded to the national disaster and to our call within a day of returning home. Most of the mess was cleaned up by a group of 30- including families and kids just willing to lend a helping hand. A true picture of Christ and His love for us. One of them wrote me a beautiful message telling us how he was touched while cleaning up our little farm.

Meanwhile, as the storm was doing its thing, we were soaking up the cool air in the mountains. Joel and I had planned to spend our honeymoon in my dad's guest lodge on his farm in Tennessee, but instead we went to Hilton Head. So, as our 4 year anniversary was approaching us while we were there, it was sweet to take an unexpected vacation there and show Joel the mountains for the first time in over 8 years since his accident. On our anniversary we got out of the house to visit the lodge and its spectacular view and take a little scenic photo tour as we drove back from the lodge so that Joel could see all the farm animals. I would have loved to grab some more photos, but we enjoyed most of our vacation from the porch overlooking the farm and drawing up Joel's Fall and Christmas collections- most of which were inspired by our trip, stay tuned.

Jack and Jill- no really... they literally found their way up the hill to my dad's house one day and he searched for weeks for their owner. He never found them, and they have been at Cosy Farms ever since.
