Farming goes back at least 4 generations in my family, and I'm so grateful that I get to take part in the Wiles family legacy. My great grandmother Sara farmed "by the moon". If you aren't familiar with that, it basically means that there are particular days that are better for sowing certain seedlings than others, certain days for reaping and tending, and days that are just good for resting the crop, all in accordance to the phase of the moon. And according to my dad, she started tilling the ground on good Friday. How appropriate!
With that being said, the next few weeks of our life, our social media and our blog will be farming-focused, simply because I will be spending my days in the great outdoors. I'll be sharing what I'm learning about sowing seeds- spiritually and physically, farming tips, and fun happenings on the farm.
The plan for this year includes: watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, blue berries, blackberries, raspberries, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, onions, potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, peppers, herbs and lettuce.... oh and a sunflower field... no biggie ;)
This weekend we will be reflecting on what a wonderful sacrifice was made for us when God gave His only son for us.
Happy Easter Everyone!
Lauren
But, for now, before I get my farm on.... I'll leave you with these adorable farm faces....
